8 mistakes why your brand new website don’t rank on Google
We all want our websites to show higher on Google search results. While it is very much possible, but things have changed from how they used to work previously. SEO strategies have changed drastically over the past few years, and there is no more keyword stuffing type of thing anymore. As per Google, there are 200+ ranking factors. Can you believe it!
So, why my new website is not ranking?
There can be many reasons why your brand new site isn’t ranking. Below are eight mistakes why your brand new website don’t rank on Google.
1. Correct SEO Plan & Roadmap
It includes understanding your target audience and then takes appropriate action to maximize the opportunity. Not all websites build the proper SEO strategy or roadmap, which is essential for higher search results and ranking.
Quite often developers disable search engine indexing while the site is under construction. Before you do any SEO work go to WordPress Setting -> Reading and check that “Discourage search engines from indexing site” is not marked.
2. No Keyword Strategy
When writing for your website, it’s vital to focus on the user’s needs and their phrases or terms. Only a few users use technical terms while searching for a service or product, whereas most use general phrases and words. So, know how users are searching and make a keyword strategy by using targeting words:
Your keyword strategy should be bases on more searched terms, and specific terms, long words about that particular product/Service.
3. Thin or Duplicate Content
Google wants to provide relevant info to users and the best possible results of the query. Further, Google doesn’t know on which keyword you want to rank upon. So, your content should tell Google what your web page is about and fulfill users’ needs when they search for that particular subject. Google ranks websites on how well they match that keyword or term searched.
A well-written, original, and intent satisfying content are what you should have on your website to rank higher on the Google search. Your content should be original, not copied from any sources. It should be engaging and beneficial for readers as well.
4. On-Page Optimization
This includes title tags, Meta descriptions, image alt tags, and schema. All these are a vital part of SEO and ranking factors. If you skip any of these, it can be a murdering mistake for your brand new website.
Google considers all these factors while crawling your site, and if these are optimized correctly, you will definitely see improvement in your site’s rankings. Similarly, your website should have a user-friendly interface, along with the other minor details. In short, a user can surf it comfortably.
If you have not implemented the schema to mark up your content, it is a lethal mistake.
5. Backlinks or Votes
To rank higher, you need backlinks; it is simple. But you can buy neither Google recommends this practice. Instead, Google states that your content should be worth sharing for users. Similarly, Google likes it when your site cites any other trusted source or website.
6. Is your website secure?
Back in 2017, Google started to label unsecured sites and de-ranked the sites without an SSL certificate. It’s now a major ranking factor, and if your website is unsecure, it will not go higher.
7. Mobile Friendly
Is your website mobile friendly? If not, make it now because Google has clearly stated that all websites must have a mobile-friendly version for better and higher rankings.
8. Page Speed
It is not the most vital of all, but website speed matters. Many elements impact your website’s speed, like plugins, coding, images, etc. If your site is not ranking, check and optimize its loading speed and make it a fast loading site.
